Mainstream mag layout analysis

Here I am going to study the layout structures of these mainstream magazines. I choose these magazines as they are pop culture heavy, not afraid to challenge gender stereotypes, high fashion and are each iconic in their own way. By studying the layouts of these and applying the structures to my own design work I hope to create a mainstream tone for the magazine, which will represent the idea the subject matter of the magazine needs to be commercially exposed.

V mag

Inspired by the giant iconic V of V mags

Instead of an S, which I thought would be predictable, I created a symbol that incorporates the two sex signs. I added different strokes to make it seem less obvious that it was the sex symbols, which represents gender that lies in-between binary gender.
